The Meaning of Islam:
Islam, derived from the Arabic root word “salam,” means peace, submission, and surrender to the will of the Almighty. It is a faith that encourages believers to submit themselves wholeheartedly to God’s commands, seeking inner peace and a harmonious relationship with the Creator and His creation.

The Pillars of Islam:
Islam is built upon five fundamental pillars that guide the lives of its followers:

a. Shahada (Testimony of Faith): The declaration of faith, “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger,” is the foundation of Islamic belief.

b. Salah (Prayer): Muslims are obligated to perform five daily prayers as a means of connecting with Allah, seeking His guidance, and expressing gratitude.

c. Zakat (Charity): Muslims are encouraged to give a portion of their wealth to those in need, promoting social justice and compassion.

d. Sawm (Fasting): The month of Ramadan holds great significance, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, reflecting on self-discipline, empathy, and spiritual growth.

e. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca): Muslims who are physically and financially able are obliged to undertake the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca at least once in their lifetime. It is a journey of self-reflection, unity, and submission to God.

The Quran: The Guiding Light:
The Quran is the holy book of Islam, believed to be the word of Allah as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) over a period of 23 years. It serves as a source of guidance, providing moral and ethical principles, addressing various aspects of life, and offering wisdom to navigate the challenges of the world.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final messenger sent by Allah to guide humanity. His life serves as an exemplar of compassion, justice, humility, and devotion to God. His teachings, known as Hadith, offer practical guidance on various matters of faith, ethics, and daily life.

Core Values of Islam:
Islam promotes values that foster a just, compassionate, and balanced way of life. These values include:

a. Tawhid: The belief in the oneness of Allah, recognizing His ultimate power and authority.

b. Mercy and Compassion: Islam emphasizes the importance of showing kindness, mercy, and compassion towards all of Allah’s creation.
